Psychiatric Medication Management in Denver

COLLABORATIVE PSYCHIATRIC CARE FOR ADOLESCENTS AND ADULTS

Psychiatric medication can be one part of a thoughtful mental health treatment plan. Joybrain Counseling offers psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and medication management with psychotherapy for adolescents and adults ages 12 and older.

Marcy Gannon, PMHNP-BC, NC-BC, provides collaborative, whole-person psychiatric care with particular experience supporting neurodivergent clients, including ADHD, autism, AuDHD, and PDA profiles, as well as people navigating substance use, mood concerns, trauma, burnout, sleep difficulties, and related challenges.

What Is Psychiatric Medication Management?

Individualized psychiatric care that considers your symptoms, history, goals, and overall well-being.

Psychiatric medication management involves evaluating symptoms, treatment history, health factors, and goals to determine whether medication may be helpful and, when appropriate, monitoring how treatment is working over time.

Follow-up visits may include reviewing benefits and side effects, making medication adjustments, discussing changes in mood, sleep, focus, functioning, and overall well-being, and coordinating care with therapists or other providers when appropriate.

What to Expect at an Initial Evaluation

Understand Your Needs

Marcy reviews your current concerns, symptoms, treatment history, medications, health factors, daily functioning, and goals.

Develop a Treatment Plan

Together, you’ll discuss clinical impressions and whether medication, psychotherapy, lifestyle support, or coordinated care may be appropriate.

Plan the Next Steps

If medication is recommended, Marcy will review options, questions, potential benefits and side effects, and a follow-up plan.

For Adolescents Ages 12–21

Adolescent evaluations include a pre-intake clinical review, a 60–90 minute diagnostic session involving both the adolescent and caregiver, and a written post-evaluation roadmap summarizing clinical impressions, medication recommendations when indicated, and treatment goals.

Medication Management and Psychotherapy

For some clients, medication management and psychotherapy work well together. Marcy offers follow-up appointments that can include both psychiatric medication management and individual psychotherapy, allowing more time to explore emotional patterns, coping strategies, stressors, behavior changes, and other concerns alongside medication treatment.

Follow-up care may include:

Medication Review – Discuss benefits, side effects, symptom changes, and medication adjustments.

Individual Psychotherapy – Explore coping, emotional regulation, behavior patterns, relationships, and stressors.

Coordinated Care – Support communication with therapists and other providers when appropriate.
